With evidence of settlements here reaching back over 8,000 years, it’s also one of the most historically important, and the imposing ruins of the castle attest to its dramatic story. The village is pedestrianised, allowing you plenty of time to wander through the 19th-century gateway in the village ramparts and discover some of the village’s secrets.
