A country of joyful contrast, you can relish a morning shopping in the chic boutiques of Paris then spend the afternoon admiring the sun-baked architecture of a sleepy village, playing a slow game of boules with the locals outside a little café. Families are drawn to the delightful French coast, where traditional red and white parasols still brighten the shore and children play happily in the rockpools and warm summer sea.
Twinkling Paris proudly showcases all that is magnifique about France. From world-leading gastronomy and fashion to classic architecture and contemporary art - this unashamedly chic city is set to enthral you. Titans of culture such as the Eiffel Tower, the Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Arc de Triomphe reveal themselves to you as you explore the city's characterful arrondissements. Climb the soaring 210-metre-tall Montparnasse Tower and find the best views of this romantic city, spotting verdant leafy parks for sunset strolls before your candlelit dinner in a traditional bistro.
Picturesque Cannes has grown from a sleepy little fishing village to one of the world's glitziest playgrounds. The world-famous Cannes Film Festival has undoubtedly sprinkled stardust across the town, which you'll feel as you stroll along the gilded promenades. Meanwhile, pristine sandy beaches invite decadently lazy afternoons by the lapping Mediterranean Sea, admiring the impressive yachts lined up on the town's docks. Pick something special from one of the town's many irresistible boutiques, then celebrate your purchase over a lavishly long lunch of local seafood and crisp white wine.
Perched on the shores of the impossibly blue Mediterranean Sea, Coco Chanel made Saint-Tropez the place to see and be seen. Prior to this, it was a quiet little port with a history of fending off pirates and other maritime invaders. Quaint cobblestone streets and the fortified citadel keep the history of this town alive, and you'll find an abundance of culture among the gleaming boutiques and clinking glasses of rosé at a waterfront wine bar. Relax on the coast that inspired Matisse and Signac, here the vistas are best enjoyed over a sunset dinner at one of the town's oceanfront restaurants.
Landscapes that vary from headily scented fields of lavender to the craggy foothills of the Alps, Provence is straight from the pages of a fairytale. Explore tranquil medieval villages around hilltops and drive through olive groves and past secluded chateaus surrounded by grape-laden vineyards. Provence encourages you to immerse yourself in the simple pleasures - long walks through wildflower meadows, sunset swims in quiet coves, and simple feasts augmented by excellent wine from the local grapes.
“Spending time in France has taught me to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Here, drinking a rich wine paired with an incredible cheese from the local fromagerie can be just as mindblowing as a meal in a gastronomic restaurant.”

Spring – What could be more romantic than France in spring, as the blossoms emerge and the mountainsides become fragrant with wildflowers? Though spring can start cool, by the end of May, temperatures reach a pleasant 21°C/69.8°F. Now is the time for outdoor pursuits, before the dry heat of summer kicks in. Spring is the start of the bountiful French harvest, so expect markets to be heaving with lovely fresh produce later on in the season.
Summer- Prepare to soak up the Mediterranean sun, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C/86°F. Whether you're opting for a beachfront villa on the golden coast or a rural retreat among the fragrant lavender fields, the dreamy summer weather perfectly showcases the inspirational French landscape and architecture. Summer brings a wealth of cultural and musical festivals across the country, including Bastille Day on July 14.
Autumn – As the temperatures drop in September to 10°C/50°F, autumn in France invites blissfully long bike rides through winding countryside lanes, passing roadside stalls selling freshly picked chestnuts, apples, and pears. City breaks will be quieter now, with cafés and restaurants celebrating the autumnal flavours with plenty of nuts, rich chocolates, and spices featured on the menus.
Winter – Though the temperature may fail to climb above 12°C/53.6°F over the French winter, there is plenty to warm your heart. The festive season in Paris is a mulled-wine scented affair, with the twinkling Christmas Village at Les Halles selling roasted chestnuts and artisanal arts and crafts gifts. Spend a frosty week in Provence, enjoying strolls through the ethereal stillness of the winter countryside before snuggling by a crackling fire back at your villa with a steaming bowl of cassoulet.
