December to March is the best time for a cosy Rocky Mountain cabin escape, thanks to the region’s fabulously frosty scenery. Ski season is in full swing, and there are plenty of other winter activities to enjoy, from snowshoeing to sledging.
Planning a trip to Breckenridge? Late January is when the town hosts the International Snow Sculpture Championships.
Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or bus station to your Rocky Mountain chalet.
There are several international airports close to the Rocky Mountain National Park, including Denver and Salt Lake City. You’ll also spot smaller regional airports, such as Glenwood Spring Municipal Airport just northwest of Aspen, with private jet facilities. The easiest way to reach your Rocky Mountain chalet from your chosen airport is via a VIP car transfer arranged with your concierge.
Hiring a car and setting off on daily road trips is a great way to see the Rockies, especially if you’re visiting outside of the ski season when there are various other activity options to enjoy. The roads are well-maintained and very scenic, although some are closed by late autumn and throughout the winter. Your concierge can help you book your car rental, whether you want a vehicle for your entire trip or just a few days.
The National Park Service runs free shuttle buses across the Rockies between May and October. There are three different routes which mostly cover the park’s eastern destinations. You could also hop on the Estes Park Shuttle (note that this is ticketed) from Denver International Airport and then arrange any onward travel from Estes Park to your ski resort.
