  • During spring: spring is a delightful time to book a villa in Italy’s central or southern regions. Temperatures sit comfortably in the 20s°C (70s°F) by early May, making it a popular time to explore the nation’s attraction-packed cities. While you can still expect chillier climes and the occasional rain shower in the Italian Alps, cities in the north become alive with wonderful festivals like Verona’s culinary-themed VinItaly.

  • During summer: Italian summers are lusciously long and blessed with balmy weather conditions. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 38°C (77°F to 100°F) during the day, with southern Italy experiencing the most sunshine. Keep an eye out for heatwave warnings, and always carry suncream. If you can drag yourself away from the beach, you’ll discover several delightful festivals, including Ravello Music Festival along the Amalfi Coast and the joyful Festa dei Ranieri in Pisa.

  • During autumn: warm yet pleasant temperatures and quieter beaches make early autumn a lovely time to visit Italy’s coastal regions. Nevertheless, the weather can be unpredictable at times, so an umbrella is essential. Notable events during this season include Venice Film Festival, Naples’ religious San Gennaro Festival, and numerous Tuscan food celebrations. Note that some destinations, such as the Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre, close their beaches in late October and don’t reopen them to the public until April.
