Isla Mujeres is one of Mexico’s true gems. This tiny island sits between the Gulf of Mexico with its dramatic clifftops and crashing waves, and the sublime tranquillity of the Caribbean Sea. On this side, you’ll find the island’s most exciting attraction, the remarkable Cancún Underwater Museum. This unique installation was created by English sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor and is designed to showcase artworks in an underwater setting that highlights the threat to ocean habitats. Diving through the silent statues is a genuinely incredible experience, made even more memorable by the occasional glimpse of a rare sea turtle swimming alongside you. Back on dry land, the island is also famous for its restaurants, where authentic Mexican food is on the menu, accompanied by fresh margaritas and delicious New World wines from the mainland.
Casa del Cielo is a quality example of indoor-outdoor living. That spectacular beachfront view will encourage you to spend as much time in the garden or by the pool as you do in the open-plan living area. Meals can be eaten in the dining room or al fresco, and the villa's kitchen is complemented by an outdoor BBQ area for more relaxed family meals by the pool.
The four bedrooms all offer flexible sleeping configurations to suit most family groups. The bedrooms all have their own distinct personalities, created by a careful blend of subtle tones brought to life with bespoke furniture and local artwork. Pops of teal echo the colour of the ocean, and handmade tiles in the ensuite bathrooms tie the décor together perfectly. One bedroom comes with a queen-size bed, two boasts two twin-size beds each and the remaining bedroom has three twin-size beds.
Outside, the large saltwater infinity pool and tropical gardens are an oasis in which to unwind. Find yourself a hammock in the shade and snooze the afternoon away, or take just a few steps to the private beach and stroll along the sand barefoot as the sun sinks below the horizon. Casa del Cielo is supported by a full concierge service, with daily housekeeping and a chef available for private hire.
